McCarthy Hopes Obama Didn't Hatch Iran Deal To Distract From Obamacare

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), the No. 3 Republican in the House, said Sunday that he hoped the Obama administration hadn't used a nuclear deal with Iran to distract from the problems of Obamacare.
But McCarthy also said when being asked about it on CBS's "Face the Nation" that he would withhold judgement on the matter. The question came after Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) the administration of using the deal as a distraction from the health care law.

"I know they need some other type of news, but that would be the biggest mistake any administration could do," McCarthy said. "I would hope that would never be the case."
He also said that the agreement reached with Iran to end its nuclear weapons program "is not a historic deal."
"I would caution the President from overselling this deal because it is not a full dismantling of their program. And that would be a historical deal," he said.
McCarthy said that the Senate should move forward with full sanctions against Iran until the country has completely stopped its nuclear program.
"We should move forward with the sanctions in the Senate," he said. "We should not take this lightly. We have to have a full dismantling if we want the world to be safer."
